Aurelia Behavioral Academy in Avon Lake is inviting the community to help celebrate its first year with a free family event later this month.

The anniversary celebration will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on July 25 at 32730 Walker Road, Suite J2, in Avon Lake. The event is free and open to the public and will feature a petting zoo, Kona Ice, music, bubble stations, chalk art, a balloon artist, and other family-friendly activities.

Founder and CEO Jodi Weber said the celebration is a way to thank the community for supporting the academy during its first year.

“It’s been an incredible year,” Weber said. “We feel like we were welcomed into the community with open arms. We’ve made amazing connections with our families and the children we serve, and we’ve really fallen into our groove of connecting emotional well-being with behavior change.”

The academy provides applied behavior analysis, or ABA, therapy for children and adolescents with autism. Each treatment plan is customized to help clients build independence, improve social skills, and prepare for success in school and everyday life.

Weber, a licensed clinical social worker, said opening the academy had long been a professional goal.

“I’ve always wanted to create an ABA center that could eventually grow alongside other disciplines like mental health, occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy,” she said. “The goal is for professionals to work together to create individualized service plans for every child.”

She said one of the accomplishments she is most proud of is the academy’s flexible approach to care.

“We really want to fit into the lives of the clients we serve rather than asking them to fit into ours,” Weber said. “We work around school schedules, and our clients don’t age out of services. We want to meet families where they are.”

Throughout its first year, Weber said the academy has focused on working closely with families and providing support beyond the clinic when needed.

“We’ll go wherever we need to be to best support our clients,” she said. “If that means helping in the school environment or assisting with transitions between home and school, we’re there. It’s all about meeting the individual needs of each child and family.”

The July 25 celebration is designed to reflect that same commitment to the community.

“We’re excited to celebrate this milestone,” Weber said. “This is our way of giving back to the community that has welcomed us. We want families to come out, have fun and celebrate with us.”

Looking ahead, she said the academy plans to continue growing while expanding its services throughout Ohio.

“Our goal is to continue growing alongside our clients and families and eventually expand into other communities across the state,” she said. “We’re just getting started.”

Weber said everyone is invited to attend the anniversary celebration.

“We’re looking forward to meeting new people and welcoming back the families we’ve built relationships with over the past year,” she said. “All we ask is that people come ready to have a good time.”
